As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

The purpose of the Journal of MultiDisciplinary Evaluation (JMDE) is to publish and disseminate work that contributes to the development of evaluation theory, methods, and practice. Questions regarding the relevance of a potential submission should be directed to the Executive Editor at chris.coryn@wmich.edu.

With the exception of editorals, book reviews, and "ideas to consider," all sections of JMDE are subject to double-blind peer-review.

JMDE publishes the following types of double-blind peer-reviewed manuscripts (though other types of manuscripts will be given due consideration):

  • Research on evaluation

  • Literature reviews

  • Reflections on practice

  • Theory development

  • Qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods developments for evaluation

  • Developments in approaches to practice

  • Developments in teaching evaluation

Manuscripts submitted to JMDE should be completely blinded to author(s), affiliation(s), and any other potential identifying information in order to assure impartial peer review. Every element within the manuscript should be double-spaced, including tables and references, and follow the style recommendations of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th ed.; click here for APA style resources).
