Abstract

Geoinformation technologies are becoming more relevant with the power of Machine Learning algorithms coming to make it faster and more accurate in modeling and land use land cover change assessment. There is a paper in this issue of International Journal of Geoinformatics related to this. There is also a very interesting paper on decision support system for land suitability for Garlic. With the population increase vehicular traffic is growing at amazing pace and we frequently read the news of fatal accidents. There are two papers focusing on this issue. One of the paper deals with black spots on National and Rural Highways and another investigates road traffic accidents through spatial distribution and cluster analysis. This type of work supports policy formulations and help reducing the accidents and save lives of the people.

We also find a valuable research insight in water quality cluster or pattern mapping in a lake in Philippines. There is a paper dealing a quite novel idea of environmental changes using time series data for oil sand areas in Canada.

I would like to thank all the researchers specially the young ones for contributing new applications ideas and also employing machine learning for crunching huge time series data and improving the accuracy. I am also very interested to see more papers on deep learning and AI in future to deal with 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional data along with dynamic geospatial sensor data feeds for near real-time knowledge development.

With this, I would like to wish you all a very happy reading and following the interesting articles published in this issue. My sincere gratitude to all reviewers for their support.
