Abstract

Integrated Geoinformatics comprising of remote sensing, GIS, GNSS are deeply embedded in human geosphere and biosphere development. We often see amazing innovative applications in solving intricate issues related to Urban Heat Islands, Disease Surveillance Systems, Soil Moisture Sensors and optimizing waste transportation, flood inundation distribution on land use in urban environment, etc. These applications are discussed in this issue along with several very innovative papers related to rooftop water harvesting and ground water recharge, peat thickness estimation and surveillance model of zoonosis in Cyprinoid fishes. These papers will surely be very useful for implementation and sustainable development. One of the papers presents detailed evaluation of the Machine Learning algorithms and comparison with spectral classification methods for delineation of irrigated crops. It is rare to find new development of techniques, but this issue brings a new method of radiometric enhancement using high resolution satellite imagery.

International Journal of Geoinformatics is continuously enhancing its reach to readers and authors, speed up review process and reduce publication time. To achieve this, one of the approaches is transforming it to online and increasing number of issues. We have also included DOI so that we move into open access domain and papers get quick and easy dissemination to researchers via ubiquitous internet. This has started increasing the cite score of the journal. Earlier, authors used to submit the papers by email and then we used to send to reviewers by email and follow with them. I am happy to announce that starting this year 2022, IJG has started submission and review online. However, the old practice will continue for some more time, and we will be 100% online by the end of this year.

There is a need to focus our attention on climate change impact and adaptation. It would be great if some top scientist can take lead and work with me to bring out a special issue on the climate change.

I would like to request our dedicated researchers to email me if they would like to be part of reviewer panel and after two years member of the editorial board. This will give them chance to get complimentary subscription of all the papers and a discount coupon for publication of their research paper in which they are either first or contributing author.
