Abstract

The significance for thermal soaring of the depth of the ground-based convective layer is well known...both strengths and heights of thermals increase with increasing of convective-layer depth.... calculating sensible heat flux from the ground to the convective layer appears to be a reliable way to examine quantitatively the processes involved in the growth of convective layers when suitable data are available.
