Abstract

Wavelength, wave amplitude and vertical currents in lee waves are a function of vertical profiles of the wind and temperature of the airstream containing the waves and the underlying size and shape of mountain ridges triggering off the waves....  This paper describes how the parameters can be scaled to permit the practical use of a more realistic three-layer model and to indicate whether or not a prediction can be made with confidence.
