The role of the motor glider for gliding training

Abstract

The original idea behind the development of the two seater motorglider was to be able to extend the flight in non-soarable conditions and to allow the glider to use soaring conditions which would otherwise have been out of reach....  Is the motor glider training quicker in terms of hours to solo?  There does not seem to be a significant advantage....
