Abstract
The desirable properties of a manned flight vehicle are investigated for the execution of dynamic soaring flight in the presence of a given measured vertical wind gradient... An example is given showing that the Nimbus 2 in the wind gradients of the Munich low-lever jet gains a height of 51 m in a manoeuvre of 21 seconds and that in the course of this an accceleration of 2 g has to be withstood for 12 s, corresponding to a banked flight with 60 degrees angle of bank.
