Abstract

Measurement of atmospheric electric fields in convective plumes and small cumulus clouds suggests that convection influences the atmospheric electric field....  The electric field in cumulus clouds at higher altitudes where ground effects are apparently negligible (between 7000 and 11,500 ft) follows qualitatively Ruhnke's electric cloud prediction model.
