Abstract

It is hoped that boundary layer control through distributed rows of perforations will allow the design of higher performance sailplanes and perhaps certain special purpose ships with very low speeds.  The improvement of the aerodynamics of the sailplane according to the demands of the boundary layer control will produce new applications of the sailplane both as a tool for research and as a vehicle for sheer sport flying.
