Abstract

The pilot mission assignment problem needs to be addressed in order to improve mission efficiency, in addition to accident risk prevention. This paper presents an integrated framework for the risk management of pilot mission assignment. In regard to Korean army helicopter units, the risk evaluation framework using the IDEA (Imprecise Data Envelopment Analysis) method is proposed. The risks due to pilots, missions and helicopters are evaluated based on imprecise data, and the assignment of pilots to missions and helicopters is performed using goal programming with risk scores. The process is designed to obtain smaller variances in the risk evaluation based on the interval bounded data and so that it can be combined with the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), which improves the reliabilities of the solutions. These numerical experiments provide reasonable solutions to the problem of risk management of pilot mission assignment.
