Author Guidelines

Witness welcomes original articles of high academic standards that deal with the theology, practice, and teaching of evangelism. Contributors should follow the Chicago Manual of Style format with endnotes. All articles should be in MSWord, double-spaced, no more than 30 pages in length. Contributors should also include a short bio of no more than two sentences that shares their current position.

For those interested in submitting book reviews, the following guidelines should be kept in mind:
  • Witness accepts reviews of titles that has been published within the last two years.
  • Titles that that address the theology, practice, and teaching of evangelism are preferred, but related subjects are also accepted.

It is suggested to read book reviews in previous issues of Witness. The following elements are normally addressed:

  • Very brief introduction of the topic and the background of the author
  • The main purpose or thesis of the book
  • Structure of the book, e.g. sections, chapters, logical progression
  • The new contribution (if any) of the book
  • Strengths and weaknesses of the book
  • What do you recommend regarding the usefulness of the book? textbook (what level?), popular guide, reference resource, etc.
  • Edited volumes with multiple authors should give an overview of the book, focus on two chapters that stand out, are particularly valuable, or that illustrate the nature of the volume.
  • Book reviews should not include any notes, and should be approximately 2 pages (500 words) long.
  • When submitting a book review go to: https://aete.online/journal/  Choose the option "book review," and title the review: "A review of [title of the book].”) Thank you!

  1. The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. Bold 12-point font is used for each subheading.
  2. The text is justified on both the right and the left. Block quotes are at least four lines long and indented 3 spaces on both sides.
  3. No tabs are used to indent. Instead, use the automatic indentation option to indent the first line of each paragraph 3 spaces (not the default 5).
  4. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  5. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
