Abstract

Over a 3 year period we have developed a sensitive accelerometer and a software algorithm to automatically detect circling flight in sailplanes. The results are available in a commercial Soaring Navigation Computer. The response from pilots who flew the system during tlie 1988 season has been very favorable.
