Abstract

The publication "SOLAR POWERED PROPULSION SYSTEMS" (presented at the "International Airship Conference in Stuttgart 1993") dealt with the possibilities and limitations of solar-powered flying with special reference to the use of such propulsion systems for airships.  This paper shows the latest developments in solar cell integration, battery technology and electrical engines as it is integrated in the University of Stuttgart's solar powered motorglider Icar2 XXL.
