Abstract

The affordability and utilization of flight simulation is considered for ultralight aircraft, motor gliders and sail-planes.  A new approach is presented to significantly reduce costs while keeping system fidelity at a level re-quired for the simulation purposes.  Focus is on a solution comprising low-cost hardware and efficient software, with the goal to realize a flight simulator featuring all relevant system functions with correct operational charac-teristics. Achievement of a realistic, low-cost flight simulator is also supported by appropriate solutions in the fields of system architecture, data generation and modeling.
