Editorial Policies

Focus and Scope

Himalayan Journal of Sciences (ISSN 1727 5210) is a peer-reviewed multi-disciplinary journal published twice yearly. HJS focuses on biodiversity, natural resource management, ecology and environment, and other fields related to Himalayan conservation, and development. HJS invites authors to communicate their knowledge and uncertainties from all the sciences.

HJS publishes works in the following genres:

  1. Research papers: report on original research
  2. Review papers: thorough account of current developments and trajectories in any field covered in the journal
  3. Articles: narrowly-focused account of a current development in any field covered in the journal
  4. Editorial: opinionated essay on an issue of public interest
  5. Essay: similar to editorial but longer and more comprehensive; may include tables and figures
  6. Commentary and Correspondence: persuasive and informed commentary on any topical issues or on articles published in prior issues of the journal
  7. Policy: critical review of some topic of high public interest, hybrid of essay and review article, with the basis of highly valid facts and figures
  8. Resource review: evaluation of books, websites, CDs, etc. pertinent to the scope of HJS
  9. Publication preview: description/epitome of the forthcoming important books
  10. Calender: notice of forthcoming conferences, seminars, workshops, and other events related to science and the Himalayas.

The journal is being published once a year. We will soon switch to our original schedule of twice a year publication of the journal.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
