Normally, it is an ethical/legal violation to make material from JPC&C available to persons other than those covered by the kind of subscription for which you have paid.  If you wish to share an article with others, you must follow the guidelines above.  This is not intended to limit the ability of members of the professional associations which are sponsors of JPCP Inc. and of Individual Subscribers to make copies of individual articles (maximum of 6 copies) to share with colleagues or small groups of students.  When this is done, recipients of the articles must be encouraged to subscribe and information concerning how to do that must be provided with the article reprint.

For the Information of Libraries

The content available online is the same as that which is available in print.

Subscribers have perpetual access to the volumes/years or titles for which they have subscribed.

Authorized Users may print and download articles in reasonable quantity (see above) from the online version.

The design of the JPC&C website allows for printing from a PDF file.

Subscribing libraries may allow “visitors” access to the online version of JPC&C when in the library building(s).

Subscribing libraries may supply interlibrary loan (ILL) requests from the online version of the journal but are expected to encourage libraries making repeated requests to enter their own subscription to JPC&C.   (Libraries which do NOT have a JPC&C subscription are expected to follow the directions above concerning coursepacks and electronic course content.)

Subscribing libraries may link to content or post content from the online version of JPC&C on the subscribing library’s eReserves service.

Archival access is independent of the publisher's interface or search engine.

7. JPC&C ACCESS FOR MEMBERS OF ACPE, CASC/ACSS (CAPPE/ACPEP), CPSP, NAJC, & NIBIC

Members of ACPE, CASC/ACSS (formerly CAPPE/ACPEP), CPSP, NAJC, and NIBIC have access to The Journal of Pastoral Care & Counseling as a benefit of membership in their professional association.  All of the members of each association use the username+password assigned to their association.  Members of these associations should contact their association website, webmaster, or office to obtain the association's username+password  for accessing JPC&C.  They should NOT register individually unless they do so as an author.

Some of the association webmasters provide a direct link in a quarterly e-mail announcing publication of a new issue of JPC&C - eliminating the necessity of entering a username+password.

9. ACCESSING JPC&C ARTICLES

FIRST: Log in.

Note that you do not have to log in if you are accessing this site from an institution whose IP address[es] has/have been authenticated for direct access (in fact if your institution has that kind of access and you log in, you will not be able to access articles).  A few institutions may have username+password access.

If you have entered your username+password in the USER menu box on the right side of the page, sometimes that does not "take" and a page comes up with a login provision just left of the middle of the page.  Use that centre page login provision - which should work with 1-3 tries.

THEN:  Go to either the current issue (click on Current in the top menu) or an archived issue (click on Archives in the top menu).  If you selected the current issue, you will see the Table of Contents for that issue.

AND THEN: To open an article, click on "PDF" to the right of the article title.  A page about "Portable Document Format" will come up for a few seconds - then the article will come up.  (If it does not, then you may need to cancel your pop-up blocker.)   Enjoy!!!

MORE: In order to access a second and successive articles, click on "Table of Contents" near the top right of the screen.  That will take you back to the Table of Contents.

10. HOW TO ENTER A STUDENT OR INDIVIDUAL SUBSCRIPTION

A new Subscriber must first register for an account with The Journal of Pastoral Care & Counseling, as a Reader. Once you have that and log in, you will see an option to "Manage My Subscriptions" on the User Home page.  Click on that.

In the resulting page, you will see the option to "Purchase New Subscription" (towards the bottom of the page).  Click on that.

From there, you can select the appropriate subscription type (if paying at the student rate, don't forget to name the training/education program in the "Membership" box - and send an e-mail to ElectronicJPCC@JPCP.org verifying student standing) - then proceed on to PayPal for payment using PayPal or your credit card.

You will now have access.

Note: Your subscription will be back-dated to January 1, 2009.  If you have entered your subscription during the first three-quarters of the calendar year the end-date will be re-set to December 31 of the current year.  If you have entered your subscription in the last quarter of the calendar year, the end-date will be re-set to December 31 of the next calendar year.

On rare occasions, the user’s firewall or antivirus software might also be interfering with logging in. Trying a different computer (i.e., at home rather than at work) usually solves this one.  Persons who are able to access via a home computer but not their work computer should ask their workplace’s IT staff for assistance to resolve this for the workplace computer(s).
