Focus and Scope

Integrated Assessment combines knowledge from diverse disciplines to accurately represent and analyze policy-relevant real world problems. Given the complex, intuitive, and value-laden process of accurate representation and analysis of policy problems, successful policy application in today’s world requires encompassing and incorporating insights from emerging interdisciplinary research and application. Integrated Assessment provides a systematic approach to interdisciplinary research that bridges traditional disciplinary boundaries. Integrated Assessment provides an opportunity to develop a coherent framework for considering multiple objectives of decision-making and identifying possible policy criteria. Through model-based systems, simulation gaming, scenario analysis, and qualitative studies, Integrated Assessment creates open and flexible tools to provide timely, relevant analysis at the level of aggregation appropriate to the problems and issues at hand. Dedicated to the burgeoning field of Integrated Assessment, and to the rapidly expanding scope of interdisciplinary studies, this journal aims to help practitioners, policy makers/analysts, and disciplinary scholars connect, develop common language, and share lessons from analysis and practice.

Peer Review Process

IA is committed to prompt evaluation and publication of submitted papers. The submission and review process is fully electronic. Manuscripts are reviewed for suitability within two weeks of submission. Authors of manuscripts that are not highly rated or are not relevant to the journal are notified by e-mail at that time. The Editors reserve the right to refuse any manuscript submitted, whether on invitation or otherwise, and to make suggestions and modifications before publication. Membership in TIAS is not a factor in selection of manuscripts for publication.

Selected papers are edited to improve accuracy and clarity, and to shorten, if necessary. All corrections in the proofs other than printing errors are at the author’s expense. The selected papers are published within six weeks of acceptance. If a paper was rejected on the basis of serious reviewer error, resubmission will be considered.
