About the Journal

The International Journal of Education Policy and Leadership, IJEPL, is a referred open access electronic journal dedicated to enriching the education policy and leadership base, and promoting exploration and analysis of policy alternatives. The journal welcomes articles on educational policy, leadership, and research use related to a variety of disciplines and educational settings, as well as policy initiatives that emanate from various levels of government. The Journal seeks to build bridges between researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to help identify best practices in research use, learning, teaching, policymaking and leadership. Individuals from each group, therefore are encouraged to submit articles for publication.

Articles must be original research that has not been published previously and should focus on studies and systematic analysis that employ qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methodologies.  Because of its international scope, authors are encouraged to focus on the underlying aspects of their research that make the work relevant for the larger community of scholars, educators, and policymakers. Articles should be no more than 8,000 words. The opinions and conclusions of the authors do not necessarily represent to opinions of PDK International, the University of Delaware, or Simon Fraser University.

Peer Review:

Articles submitted to IJEPL undergo double-blind peer review by members of the IJEPL Editorial Review Board. Based on reviewer feedback, IJEPL's co-editors are responsible for the final publication decision.

Impact facor:

IJEPL is a signatory of the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment. As such, we reject the use of impact factors as a surrogate measure of the quality of individual research articles or of the journal as a whole. We encourage academics to join us in resisting the use of impact factors for assessing individual research contributions, or in hiring, promotion, or funding decisions.

Publishing Details:

IJEPL is a joint publication of the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University, the University of Delaware, and PDK International. IJEPL has been continuously published by the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University since the journal's inception in 2006.
