Focus and Scope
Publication of research results and exchange of information is central to any discipline. Agricultural engineers have the opportunity to publish in several journals dedicated to the profession and also in numerous peripheral journals, serving other disciplines. As CIGR expands its horizons to more and more countries around the world, it serves the international membership by providing a low cost, widely available journal. We have applied for inclusion in the ISI / SCI database and our application is being reviewed.
Recent advances in electronic publishing provide a suitable mechanism for widespread dissemination of information. Thousands of journals are now being published electronically and are available on the World Wide Web (WWW). The technology to publish on the WWW is moving ahead rapidly. CIGR now has a peer reviewed technical journal operating on the WWW. There is no cost to the user to read or publish manuscripts in this Ejournal.
The scope of CIGR Journal includes the following seven technical sections at this moment:
- Section I: Land and Water Engineering (LWE)
- Section II: Farm Buildings Construction (FBC)
- Section III: Equipment Engineering for Plant Production (EEPP)
- Section IV: Energy in Agriculture (EA)
- Section V: Management, Ergonomics and Systems Engineering (MESE)
- Section VI: Post-harvest Technology and Process Engineering (PTPE)
- Section VII: Information Systems (IS)

VI-Postharvest Technology and Process Engineering
VII-Information Systems
Automation Technology for Off-Road Equipment-2006
Peer Review Process
Review of manuscripts by peers, that is, engineers and scientists who are experts on the subject, is a vital part of technical publishing. Peer review has two fundamental purposes. The first purpose is to ensure the originality and soundness of the research, the methodology, the logic and accuracy of any theoretical work, the soundness of experiments and interpretation of data, and the logic of the conclusions. The second purpose is to provide comments and suggestions that will assist the authors to improve their manuscripts as they prepare subsequent drafts. Peer review leads to higher quality research publications.
Publication Frequency
Quarterly since 2010, publishing four issues per year
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Mission Statement
The CIGR Journal provides a means for communication and exchange of research results and other more general information among agricultural engineers and others interested in agricultural engineering subjects around the world. It provides an international forum for the scientific discussion of techniques and approaches leading to a higher degree of efficiency in agricultural production, the responsible use of natural resources, a cleaner environment, greater sustainability, value-added processing and other subjects of interest to agricultural engineers. It also includes economic considerations and policy issues of interest to agricultural engineers and other disciplines.
